4. Pass the general examination. A written test on the principles of the method, set and graded under the authority of a Level III.
5. Pass the specific examination. A written test on the equipment, procedures, codes and acceptance criteria you will actually use in your employer's work.
6. Pass the practical examination. A hands-on test on real specimens, where you demonstrate that you can set up the technique, detect and evaluate indications and report the result correctly. This is administered by a Level III or a designee under the written practice.
7. Pass the vision examination. Near-vision acuity and colour-contrast differentiation checks as required by the written practice, with near vision repeated at least annually.
8. Receive employer certification. The employer certifies you in writing for the method and level, based on the combined results. The certification is valid with that employer.
9. Maintain and recertify. Keep vision tests current, maintain continuity in the method, and recertify at the interval your written practice sets. If you change employers, the new employer must certify you under its own written practice, though it may accept your prior training and experience records.

Port, cranes and logistics. The Georgia Ports Authority's Garden City Terminal and Ocean Terminal, and the distribution and heavy-equipment businesses around them, rely on MT and UT of crane structures, spreaders, lifting gear and structural welds, with VT throughout.
