4. General examination. A written test on the method's theory and principles.
5. Specific examination. A written test on your employer's procedures, equipment and the codes you apply, such as ASME Section V techniques with ASME B31.3 or Section VIII acceptance criteria, API 1104 for pipelines, or AWS D1.1 for structures.
6. Practical examination. Hands-on inspection of real specimens with known flaws, graded under a Level III.
7. Vision examination. Near-vision acuity and colour contrast, repeated annually.
8. Certification. Issued by the employer on the Level III's recommendation, with records kept for owner and Code audits.
9. Recertification. At the interval in the written practice, and whenever you join a new employer.

Self-paced online or onsite NDT training for Corpus Christi crews

Boilers in Texas fall under the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation's boiler programme, while pressure vessels and piping in refineries and plants are managed under owner mechanical integrity programmes built on API and ASME codes. Practise before the practical exam

The Practical NDT 3D simulator lets trainees practise 12 method families in twelve workplaces, including an NDT lab, a welding workshop, an aircraft hangar, an oil and gas site and a storage tank.
