ASTM E1444 Magnetic Particle Testing
ASTM E1444 is the standard practice for magnetic particle testing of aerospace and other high-criticality components, specifying tighter process control than ASTM E709 — including daily system performance checks and verified UV-A intensity.
Definition
E1444 requires Ketos ring quarterly checks, daily QQI shim or pie-gauge field-strength verification, and a documented written procedure. It is the MT counterpart to E1417 for aerospace.

Running MT with in-date equipment but no particle-bath checks. The bath degrades in use, and E1444's process controls exist precisely because equipment certificates cannot see it.
