Solvent-Removable Penetrant
Solvent-removable penetrant is a Type I or II PT system in which excess penetrant is removed by wiping with a solvent-dampened cloth, used in field inspection where water rinsing is impractical.
Definition
Solvent-removable systems (per ASTM E165 Method C) are commonly delivered in aerosol kits containing cleaner, penetrant, and developer. They are widely used for weld inspection in the field but offer slightly lower sensitivity than post-emulsifiable systems.
