Multi-Directional Magnetization
Multi-directional magnetization applies two or more magnetic fields in different directions simultaneously or in rapid sequence so that defects of any orientation can be detected in a single inspection shot.
Definition
A multi-directional bench uses two AC and one DC current source to combine longitudinal and circular fields. The technique is verified using a Ketos ring or QQI shim before inspection.
