Atlantis NDT delivers ASNT and ISO 9712 aligned NDT training in UAE: Level I, Level II and Level III programmes across ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, penetrant, eddy current and visual testing, plus API 510, API 570 and API 653 inspector preparation. Courses are authored and supervised by ASNT NDT Level III professionals.
The UAE inspection market
The UAE NDT market is dominated by ADNOC Group (ADNOC Onshore, Offshore, Refining, Gas, Borouge), DEWA, and the UAE Barakah Nuclear Power Plant operated by ENEC. Major fabrication and EPC contractors include Petrofac, Tecnimont, NPCC, Lamprell, and dozens of mid-tier yards across Hamriyah and Mussafah.
Certifications most in demand in UAE
Primary: ASNT. Secondary: ISO 9712. Also frequently requested: PCN, CSWIP, SAEP.

Recommended certification pathway
ADNOC contractor specifications accept ASNT SNT-TC-1A and ISO 9712 interchangeably. CSWIP 3.1 mandatory for welding inspector roles. PCN accepted on UK / European EPC packages. Aramco SAEP-1112 honoured for cross-border crews.

Which certification should an inspector in UAE take first?
ADNOC contractor specifications accept ASNT SNT-TC-1A and ISO 9712 interchangeably. CSWIP 3.1 mandatory for welding inspector roles. PCN accepted on UK / European EPC packages. Aramco SAEP-1112 honoured for cross-border crews.
Does Atlantis run corporate on-site NDT training in UAE?
Yes — on-site cohorts are run at client facilities in and around UAE for groups, including method-specific practical sessions using your own equipment and specimens so the training maps to the work your crews actually do. Written practice review and Level III oversight can be bundled with the programme.
ADNOC contractor specifications accept ASNT SNT-TC-1A and ISO 9712 interchangeably, so the choice is driven by where the certificate travels, not by which is stronger. Atlantis delivers UAE cohorts three ways: on-site at your Mussafah, Hamriyah or Ruwais facility using your own equipment and specimens, at an arranged classroom venue, or as blended online theory with in-person practical assessment.
Radiography is the constraint that reorders a UAE training plan. The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation licenses industrial radiography practices in the UAE and registers the individuals who work with sources, so an RT Level II certificate alone does not put a technician on site — the licensing and radiation-worker registration must exist alongside it, and that clock runs independently of the training calendar. Book RT cohorts against the licensing lead time, not the other way round. The second constraint is portability across schemes. A crew rotating between ADNOC packages and UK or European EPC scopes needs certificates two schemes will honour: ISO 9712 issued by an accredited body travels into Europe, PCN is named on UK-origin packages, CSWIP 3.1 is the welding-inspection credential ADNOC contractors ask for by name, and ASNT SNT-TC-1A is employer-based and stops at the employer's gate. Certify to what the contract names, then add the second scheme.

Choosing a UAE delivery format — what each one is actually constrained by
Delivery format
Where practical hours are logged
Best when
Hard constraint
On-site corporate cohort at your facility
Your own equipment and your own specimens, at your plant
Six or more candidates from one employer
Site access, permit-to-work, and a controlled area for any RT content
Arranged classroom venue with a practical block
Training venue instruments and reference blocks
Candidates drawn from several employers, or a single candidate
Venue booking and examiner availability set the date, not the enquiry
Blended — online theory, in-person practical
A compressed in-person block after the online theory
Crews on rotation or split across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah
Practical assessment cannot be conducted remotely under any scheme
Method top-up for already-certified staff
Your equipment, worked against the new method's procedure
Adding PAUT, TOFD or ET to an existing UT team
The existing certification must be current, not lapsed
Delivery format does not change the certificate. The certifying scheme and the examining body do. Choose the format for logistics and the scheme for where the certificate has to be accepted.
Does an ASNT certificate earned in the United States transfer to a UAE employer?
The examination record transfers; the certification does not. ASNT SNT-TC-1A certification is employer-based, so a UAE employer re-certifies the technician against its own written practice and accepts the prior training and examination evidence toward that. ISO 9712 certification issued by an accredited body transfers intact, because the certificate belongs to the individual rather than to the employer.
Do UAE radiography technicians need anything beyond an RT Level II certificate?
Yes. The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation licenses industrial radiography practices in the UAE and registers the individuals who work with sources. A technician needs RT method certification, employer licensing under FANR, radiation-worker registration and current dosimetry before entering a controlled area. The certification course and the licensing process run on separate calendars and must be started together.
Which certification does ADNOC actually name in its contractor specifications?
ADNOC contractor specifications accept ASNT SNT-TC-1A and ISO 9712 interchangeably for NDT method personnel, and name CSWIP 3.1 specifically for welding inspector roles. The practical read is that method certification is scheme-agnostic on ADNOC packages while welding inspection is not. Confirm against the specification revision attached to your package, because approved-scheme lists are revised between contract cycles.
How do UAE-certified inspectors qualify for work in the United States or Canada?
North American work runs on different schemes. US employers certify to ASNT SNT-TC-1A or ANSI/ASNT CP-189 under their own written practice, so an ISO 9712 holder is re-certified on arrival using the existing training and experience record. Canada requires CAN/CGSB-48.9712 certification through Natural Resources Canada's NDT Certification Body for most pressure-equipment scope.
Can practical examination hours be completed online?
No. ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ANSI/ASNT CP-189, ISO 9712, PCN and CGSB each require supervised hands-on examination on real specimens with a physical instrument. Online delivery covers theory, procedure interpretation and general examination preparation. Blended programmes exist to compress the in-person block, not to eliminate it, and a provider claiming otherwise will not survive a client audit.
What does an employer need in place before hosting an on-site cohort in the UAE?
Calibrated instruments matching the method, reference blocks or representative specimens with known discontinuities, a room that meets examination conditions, and site access cleared for the instructor. RT cohorts additionally need a controlled area and FANR-compliant source handling. Employers who supply their own production coupons get training mapped to their actual weld configurations and material grades.
