Practicals are done in the Practical NDT simulator and in person at your employer’s facility, on its equipment and parts. Simulator practice supports training; it does not replace supervised experience, the practical examination or employer certification.

US-affiliated owners name ASNT SNT-TC-1A, UK and Norwegian operators name PCN or CSWIP 3.1, and ISO 9712 sits underneath both as the third-party route. Industrial radiography additionally requires a Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation licence held by the company and its registered radiographers.
Certificates expire on schedules that do not line up, and a Hamriyah fabricator discovers the mismatch at a client audit rather than in advance. ISO 9712 certification runs five years, renews on evidence of continued work and a current vision test, and requires a recertification examination at ten. PCN and CSWIP follow the same five-and-ten rhythm through their certification bodies. Both models. Maintain an ASNT SNT-TC-1A written practice with an in-house or outsourced Level III for US-affiliated owners and ADNOC-linked packages, and hold ISO 9712 or PCN certified technicians for UK and Norwegian scopes. CSWIP 3.1 covers the welding inspector role either way. Running one properly and improvising the other is what loses tenders at pre-qualification.
Does a UAE employer's ASNT certification satisfy a European EPC audit?
No, where the specification names third-party certification. The auditor's objection is structural rather than technical: your company examined, certified and employs the same person. ISO 9712 or PCN places an accredited certification body between the two. Where the specification names SNT-TC-1A, employer certification is fully acceptable and the written practice becomes the document under examination.
What does FANR require before a contractor can shoot radiography in Sharjah?

How does a CSWIP 3.1 welding inspector move into an ASNT UT Level II?
As a fresh qualification in a different discipline. CSWIP 3.1 covers visual weld inspection and welding documentation; ultrasonics is a separate method with its own training hours, documented experience, and general, specific and practical examinations under the employer's written practice. The welding knowledge sharpens interpretation of what the ultrasonic data means, and it shortens no requirement.
