Inspection
Construction and commissioning inspection
Commissioning is the last time every weld, flange and support is accessible at once, and the first time the plant’s condition is recorded. Getting construction inspection right protects the start-up schedule; getting the baseline right protects every inspection that follows. We provide inspection and NDT from fabrication through mechanical completion and handover.
Construction QA/QC
- Inspection and test plan (ITP) review and hold-point inspection.
- Weld visual inspection and NDE to the extent the code and specification require: ASME B31.3 normal, severe cyclic or Category M service; ASME Section VIII full or spot radiography; AWS D1.1 structural welds.
- UT in lieu of RT where the code and owner allow it, using PAUT or AUT with qualified procedures.
- Post-weld heat treatment record review and hardness verification.
- PMI on alloy components to a material verification programme.
Pressure and leak testing
We witness and document hydrostatic and pneumatic tests to ASME B31.3 paragraphs 345.4 and 345.5 and ASME Section VIII UG-99 and UG-100, check test-pack completeness, gauge calibration and hold times, and carry out sensitive leak tests to ASME Section V Article 10 where specified.
Baseline for the inspection programme
Baseline thickness readings at the condition monitoring locations that the in-service programme will use, holiday testing of linings and coatings before they are buried or put into service, and as-built records that let the first in-service inspection measure a real corrosion rate rather than guessing from nominal thickness.
Turnover dossiers
Weld maps, NDE reports, PWHT charts, PMI logs, test records and certificates are compiled into turnover dossiers organised by system, so operations inherits a complete record rather than a pile of reports.

Frequently asked questions
Why take baseline thickness readings at commissioning?
Without a measured starting thickness, the first in-service inspection can only compare with nominal thickness, which overstates or hides corrosion. A baseline lets corrosion rates and remaining life be calculated correctly from the start.
