Valve

A valve is a pressure-containing mechanical device that regulates, directs, or controls the flow of a fluid by opening, closing, or partially obstructing passageways, inspected by visual, MT/PT, UT, and pressure testing.

Definition

Valve NDT during manufacture covers castings (RT/UT for porosity, shrinkage), forgings (UT for inclusions, segregation), and welded valves. In service, body wall thickness, sealing-surface condition, and bolting integrity drive the inspection program.
