API 570 is issued by API's Individual Certification Programs, not by any training provider, and the gate is education plus documented piping inspection experience: one year with an engineering or technology degree, two years with a two-year technical diploma, three years with a higher secondary certificate, five years with none. Indian candidates sit the identical computer-based exam at Prometric centres.

Does an ASNT or ISO 9712 certificate count toward API 570 eligibility?
No. ASNT and ISO 9712 certify competence in an NDT method — ultrasonics, radiography, penetrant. API 570 eligibility counts documented piping inspection experience performed or supervised, which is a different activity. The two stack powerfully in hiring, because an API 570 inspector who also interprets ultrasonic data commands more, and neither substitutes for the other on the application.
How is API 570 recertified, and what happens if it lapses?
Certification runs three years. The three-year recertification is evidence-based: continued work in the field, attested and submitted. The six-year point requires a recertification examination, shorter than the original and still an examination. Allowing the certificate to expire past API's reinstatement window sends the holder back to the full application and the full exam, including fresh eligibility evidence.
Is an API 570 earned in India recognised in the Gulf and the United States?
