Radiographic Contrast
Radiographic contrast is the difference in density between two adjacent areas of a radiograph, governed by subject contrast (radiation energy and material) and film contrast (film type and processing).
Definition
Contrast determines visibility of small defects. Lower kV produces higher subject contrast; finer-grain film produces higher film contrast. Excessive scatter reduces contrast.
